Rodin's beroemde standbeeld de Denker is er nu in een micro-uitvoering. Koreaanse ingenieurs maakten een kopie van 20 micrometer hoog: maar twee keer zo groot als een rode bloedcel. In het vakblad Applied Physics beschrijven Dong-Yol Yang en zijn team hun nieuwe techniek om met lasers kleine details uit te harden in een speciale hars.

Koreaan Dong-Yol Yang en collega's maakten met dunne laserbundels een replica van het beroemde standbeeld de Denker. De originele versie van de Franse kunstenaar Auguste Rodin uit 1880 is bijna levensgroot en de microversie maar twee rode bloedcellen. Details als armen en voeten zijn goed te zien. Nuttig? Niet direct, maar de Yang's onderhuidse lasertechniek kan wél kleinere details aanbrengen dan bestaande methodes. Misschien zijn er ooit micro-sensoren voor de biotechnologie mee te maken.
